Situation: 1982, the Holy Land. In an act of premeditated aggression, the Zionists have invaded Syria’s sister nation of Lebanon. You have been ordered to counter-attack in an attempt to breakthrough the Zionist positions.

Mission: Syrians enter from the northern table edge. They may Flank March with 1 Battalion along the western and/or eastern table edge. 1 Battalion may be kept in Reserve.

Syrian 3rd Tank Division:
Divisional HQ (off-table).

81st Tank Regiment:
Regimental Headquarters: HQ: 1-T-72A.

82nd Tank Regiment:
Regimental Headquarters: HQ: 1-T-62M.
3-Tank Battalions, each with: 1-HQ-T-62M, 6-T-62M.

3rd Motor Rifle Regiment (BMP):
Regimental Headquarters: 1-HQ BMP-1.
1-Antitank Battery: 2-BRDM 3 (AT-5).
3-Motor Rifle Battalions, each with: 1-HQ BMP-1 Combat Team, 6-BMP-1 Combat Teams.

3rd Division Artillery Regiment (all off table):
2-122mm Howitzer Battalions, each: 3-2S1 SP 122mm Howitzers (8 HE or Smoke fire missions), 1 FO.
1-152mm Howitzer Battalion: 3-2S3 152mm SP Howitzers (6 HE or Smoke fire missions), 1 FO.

Victory

Syrians win if they exit at least 1 Regiment (3 Battalions totalling at least 11 fighting and/or HQ stands) from the southern table edge. Israelis win if they prevent a Syrian victory and if they Destroy or Rout at least 2 complete Syrian Regiments (i.e. all 3 battalions from each of 2 of the Regiments). A draw occurs if neither side achieves its victory conditions. Game ends after 16 turns.

Please note: This scenario was developed during the early stages of Modern Spearhead’s development so the balance of the scenario may have changed slightly once the final version of Modern Spearhead and Errata is taken into account.
